Morning campers! Is everyone bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready for another day. Then, let’s go…
We are starting to run a Ministry Diagnostic on your church. Yesterday I invited you into a process of diagnosis and then, hopefully, jumpstart! You answered 7 questions. I invited you to email me at charlie@kindness.com with your answers and I promised not to share your information.
Today I have five more questions for you, should take you about 30 seconds to complete:
1. Describe your setting: rural, suburban, urban.
2. Is our area growing or declining?
3. On average, how far do most of your participants drive to your weekend gatherings?
4. On a scale of 1-5, five being, I love everything about my church, and 1 being, this situation is breathing fumes, rate our ministry satisfaction.
5. Do you and your wife agree on no. 4?
Assignment for today: Go to the nearest mall. If the nearest mall is more than a 30 minute drive from your church, then send me an email and I will give you further instructions. Purchase a large cup of coffee. Have it filled nearly to the brim. Do not put cream or sugar in it. Do not drink it. Holding it in your hand, walk through the mall and take the time to notice people. While you are doing this, pray, "Come Holy Spirit, show me the hurts and hearts of these people, show me how I might help." Walk slowly enough that you don’t spill the coffee. Do this until the coffee is cold or until you can’t stand it any longer! Then, go back to the coffee vendor and buy a cup of your favorite factor and with pen and paper in hand jot down the whisperings of the Holy Spirit and your observations and insights on your "coffee walk."

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWe do this exercise rather frequently in our workshops on evangelism. The testimonies that come back to us always amaze us as to how people are excited listening to the Holy Spirit.
I linked to this article on my blog.

Mall is considerably more than 30 minutes away. Interested in your alternate suggestion.
Walmart? Target? Costco? Anywhere there is a large gathering of people…Does that help?
